Biking From Blaen-Y-Nant |
||
| Blaen-y-Nant, the Mynydd hut in Crafnant, is an ideal base for mountain biking. In the Gwydyr forest above Betwys-y-Coed is the excellent purpose built Marin trail, a superb combination of forest trail and exciting single track. The circular route of 26k starts at a car park above Gwydir Castle, Llanrwst but can be joined from Crafnant at the road junction GR772588. Follow the blue numbered signs in ascending order when you join the trail. The route is for competent mountain bikers and is fairly tough going. | ![]() |
If you want something easier there is a numbered circular trail on the south side of Betwys-y-Coed up to Llyn Elsi. Further details of both routes can be obtained from the Bike Hire Centre in Betwys-y-Coed.
Access to Betwys-y-Coed can be made using the start of the route described above. Before you finally turn left downhill for Geirionydd there is a gate straight ahead. Take the track and bear left which takes you down by various ways to Betwys-y-Coed.
A circular route can also be ridden (well mostly) leaving the back road between the Ugly House and Pont Cyfyng by a track at Capel Tan-y-garth heading towards Dolwyddelan and returning to Betwys-y-Coed by the Roman Road.
