Welcome to the Mynydd Climbing Club web site. One of South Manchester and the High Peak’s most active mountaineering clubs. The Mynydd C.C. was formed in 1955 and has a membership of around 200 based mainly around South Manchester, Stockport, Glossop, New Mills, Buxton and Macclesfield making it one of the larger local climbing clubs.

We have a very active meets program with regular weekend meets, generally every other weekend throughout the year, visiting many of the major U.K. climbing areas, and walking, ice climbing and social meets during the winter months. Check the meets pages for details of forthcoming meet venues, meet leaders and accommodation booking arrangements.
In addition to the Clubs weekend activities, we hold weekly evening meets at local venues in the Peak District every Tuesday during summer, and regular climbing wall meets throughout winter.

Many of our members have diverse interests be it bouldering, alpine climbing, mountain marathons, walking, ski ing, sport climbing, winter mountaineering or mountain biking.
Our social meets include winter evening slide shows, lectures from visiting climbers, a hugely popular annual club dinner and alternative outdoor activities. Our visits to other climbing areas often involve stays in other traditional club huts and our program usually includes a trip to one of the Sun-Rock venues of Europe.

The club produces a quarterly newsletter with full details of forthcoming Mynydd meets and reports of recent events which is a light hearted but informative guide to the clubs activities, especially for prospective new members. The club also featured in 'Climber Magazine', May 2008. Click the link to view the article.

We have a superb Club hut in the beautiful Crafnant Valley in North Wales which is surrounded by climbing, much of it developed by club members, and is the base for many club meets. The Crafnant guide published by the C.C. was produced by the Mynydd’s members. The hut can also be booked by other climbing clubs and outdoor groups. See the hut web page for more details, costs and location.

If you would like further information on club membership, whether you’re interested in climbing V. diff or E4, scrambling or Alpine climbing, then come and meet us at the Royal Hotel in the centre of Hayfield at 9.30p.m. on Thursday nights throughout the year and arrange to come on one of our meets. See map for details of where to find us.
Alternatively, get in touch with our Membership Secretary; see details in the membership pages.
